What Is the UC Residency?
The UC Residency is a 12-month, hands-on ministry training program for college seniors and graduates. You’ll serve, lead, and grow alongside the staff of United City Church in Humble, TX — gaining the skills, confidence, and spiritual depth you need for a lifetime of ministry. Whether you’re called to preach, lead worship, disciple students, run production, create content, or serve in outreach, you’ll be equipped to step into your calling with clarity and confidence.
Residency Pathways
We offer multiple pathways designed to meet you where you are—and help you grow into who God is shaping you to become.
Residency
A one-year, full-time immersive ministry experience designed for college seniors and graduates preparing for vocational church leadership. Residents receive hands-on ministry experience, weekly training, and intentional mentoring from seasoned church leaders, all while serving and leading within the life of United City Church.
Apprenticeship
A one-year, part-time high-investment program for college students and grads who are exploring or sensing a call to church ministry. Apprentices gain practical ministry experience while receiving focused development, coaching, and spiritual formation.
Summer Internship
A ten-week, full-time summer experience for high school seniors and college students interested in tangible ministry experience. We believe God is calling college students into full-time ministry, and this internship offers a meaningful introduction to what life and leadership in the local church can look like.

MINISTRY TRACKS
You’ll be placed in a primary ministry area, while also getting exposure to other teams:
Kids Ministry Resident
Create engaging environments where children know Jesus and families thrive.
As a Kids Ministry Resident, you’ll gain hands-on experience leading within one of the fastest-growing churches in Northeast Houston while being mentored by experienced ministry leaders. You’ll help create engaging, gospel-centered environments where children discover Jesus, families are equipped to disciple their kids, and volunteers are developed to lead with excellence. Through children’s ministry leadership, volunteer development, event planning, and pastoral care, you’ll develop the leadership, organizational, and shepherding skills needed for a lifetime of vocational ministry. If you’re passionate about investing in the next generation, the UC Residency is designed for you.
Youth Ministry Resident
Disciple students, develop leaders, and reach the next generation.
As a Youth Ministry Resident, you’ll invest in students during one of life’s most influential seasons by building authentic relationships, partnering with parents, developing volunteer leaders, and creating environments where teenagers become lifelong followers of Jesus. Through relational discipleship, teaching opportunities, leadership development, ministry strategy, and event planning, you’ll develop the pastoral and organizational skills needed for long-term student ministry. If you’re passionate about helping students follow Jesus, the UC Residency is designed for you.
Young Adults Ministry Resident
Reach emerging adults, cultivate authentic community, and launch leaders into God’s mission.
As a Young Adults Ministry Resident, you’ll help college students and young professionals discover authentic community, deepen their faith, and find their place in God’s mission. Through relational discipleship, evangelism, leadership development, community building, and ministry events, you’ll gain practical experience shepherding young adults during one of life’s most formative seasons while developing the pastoral and leadership skills needed for vocational ministry. If you’re passionate about reaching the next generation of leaders, the UC Residency is designed for you.
Groups Ministry Resident
Build biblical community and equip adults to become disciple-makers.
As a Groups Ministry Resident, you’ll help shape the discipleship strategy of one of the fastest-growing churches in Northeast Houston by connecting adults into biblical community and developing leaders who make disciples. Through launching groups, coaching leaders, providing pastoral care, and implementing church-wide discipleship initiatives, you’ll develop the leadership, shepherding, and strategic skills needed for a lifetime of ministry. If you’re passionate about discipleship and leadership development, the UC Residency is designed for you.
Español Ministry Resident
Build biblical community and develop leaders as part of one church, two languages.
As an Español Ministry Resident, you’ll help advance United City Church’s vision of one church, two languages by developing biblical community and equipping leaders within the Spanish-speaking ministry. Working alongside the Español Pastor and collaborating closely with the Groups Ministry Team, you’ll recruit and develop Life Group leaders, launch discipleship environments, provide pastoral care, and help create pathways that connect people into biblical community. Through intentional mentorship, cross-cultural ministry, and leadership development, you’ll gain the pastoral, organizational, and leadership skills needed for a lifetime of vocational ministry.
Missions Resident
Mobilize the church to live on mission—locally, nationally, and globally.
As a Missions Resident, you’ll help mobilize the church to fulfill the Great Commission by equipping people to serve locally, nationally, and globally. Working alongside the Missions Pastor, you’ll gain experience in evangelism, outreach, volunteer mobilization, mission trip leadership, strategic partnerships, and cross-cultural ministry. Through leadership development, event planning, and practical mission experiences, you’ll develop the pastoral, organizational, and missional leadership skills needed to faithfully lead the church in God’s mission.
Worship Resident
Lead people to worship Christ through spiritual leadership, musical excellence, and pastoral care.
As a Worship Resident, you’ll gain hands-on experience leading worship within one of the fastest-growing churches in Northeast Houston while being mentored by experienced worship pastors and ministry leaders. You’ll help lead worship across multiple ministry environments while developing as a worship leader, musician, and shepherd. Through worship planning, team development, creative collaboration, and pastoral ministry, you’ll develop the spiritual, musical, and leadership skills needed for a lifetime of worship ministry.
Production Leadership Resident
Leverage technology to create distraction-free environments where people can encounter Jesus.
As a Production Leadership Resident, you’ll gain hands-on experience leading the technical and production ministry of one of the fastest-growing churches in Northeast Houston while being mentored by experienced production leaders. You’ll help create engaging worship environments by supporting audio, video, lighting, livestream, and production systems across multiple ministry contexts. Through technical training, volunteer development, service planning, and production leadership, you’ll develop the organizational, technical, and leadership skills needed for a lifetime of ministry.
Creative Strategy Resident
Tell compelling stories that help people take their next step with Jesus.
As a Creative Strategy Resident, you’ll gain hands-on experience shaping the communication strategy of one of the fastest-growing churches in Northeast Houston while being mentored by experienced creative and ministry leaders. You’ll help tell stories of life change, communicate the church’s vision, and create engaging content that inspires people to take their next step with Jesus. Through photography, videography, graphic design, social media, branding, digital communications, and creative collaboration, you’ll develop the creative, strategic, and leadership skills needed for a lifetime of ministry.
